On Tuesday evening, a 32 year-old truck driver from Germany lost his life in a road traffic accident on the A13 near the Ellange exit.
The accident happened shortly before 22:00 apprroximately 500m from the Ellange exit on the A13 motorway. A German-registered van with a loaded trailer drove into the back of a Polish truck.
The driver of the van was pinned in the accidetn wreckage and had to be rescued with the use of specialist technical tools. Despite the attempts to resuscitate him by paramedics, the 32-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The driver and passenger of the truck were not injured.
The exact cause of the accident remains to be clarified; the Grand Ducal Police were undertaking a forensics examination of the accident scene.
Traffic was blocked on the A13 until after the accident wreckage was cleared.
