The College of Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg has announced that all Christmas Markets in the capital will be closed today following the ice sculpture accident that left one child dead on Sunday evening.
The College has expressed its "deepest condolences" and "deepest sympathies" for the family and relatives of the young victim, a two-year-old boy, who succumbed to his injuries after being hit by an ice sculpture which collapsed in Place Guillaume II yesterday evening.
As a means of paying respect to the victim and his close ones, all Christmas markets in the capital as well as any entertainment and/or animations programmed in this context will be cancelled today.
At present, the incident is still under investigation by the judicial police to determine the exact causes of the accident.
