Luxembourg's Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development has confirmed that a new maximum temperature record was set yesterday, 25 July 2019, in the Grand Duchy.

After evaluating data from its 32 weather stations in the country, the state weather service AgriMeteo (under the administration of the Techniques de l'Agriculture - Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development) has stated that 40.8°C was recorded in Steinsel - this is the highest temperature since the beginning of weather records measured in 1838 in Luxembourg, with temperatures in Remich reaching 40.6°C.

The previous official record was from 8 August 2003, on which day the AgriMeteo station in Remich recorded a maximum value of 40.5°C.
