
The General Inspectorate of Social Security from Luxembourg's Ministry of Social Security has announced that, from 1 January 2019, the minimum wage will rise by 1.1% in addition to other social payment change.
The "social parameters" are being adapted with the coming into force of various legislative and regulatory amendments.
Firstly, these adjustments are related to the minimum social wage in the overall evolution of wages, which consists of an increase of 1.1% under the law of 21 December 2018 amending Article L. 222-9 of the Labour Code. This adjustment entails changes to the minimum and maximum contributory amounts, as well as to the level of the compensation ceiling for parental leave. The minimum monthly wage will now be €2,071.10 for unskilled workers and €2,485.32 for qualified staff.
Secondly, the recent changes in the social legislation, in particular social inclusion income (REVIS), also increase the amounts of several social benefits as of 1 January 2019.
Thirdly, changes to long-term care insurance cots for 2019 and 2020 will mean an increase in related amounts,
Finally, current pensions will be adjusted upwards by 0.8%. For new pensions, the "revaluation factor" applicable in 2019 will be 1.4460.
