Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture has announced that, after a number of years of work, the new premises of the Chateau de Bourscheid were inaugurated on 2 October 2018.
The first two floors of the building called the "House of Stolzembourg", which is part of the castle, have been completely renovated and the building has been equipped with an annex housing, among others, a kitchen and a lift. The cost of the works was €3.4 million and the new premises will be used for the organisation of various cultural activities, as well as receptions and banquets.
During his speech, Luxembourg's State Secretary for Culture, Guy Arendt, stressed the importance of the Chateau de Bourscheid at the level of feudal heritage in Luxembourg. The prestigious castle is among the best preserved in the Grand Duchy. "The Chateau de Bourscheid is of great importance whether in terms of heritage, tourism or the history of our country. It is important for me to preserve this heritage, to renovate it and to enhance it in order to make it accessible to visitors. The architects and managers of the Service des Sites et Monuments took up the challenge of renovating the 14th century building, respecting the heritage while creating the spaces and facilities necessary for the proper functioning of the castle and its many visitors."
