Luxembourg's Ministry of Justice has confirmed that a prisoner at Schrassig penitentiary has died.

The inmate, a 50-year-old man, was found dead shortly after midnight in his cell at the Schrassig Penitentiary Center (CPL), located to the east of Luxembourg city.

In order to be able to determine the exact circumstances and causes of death, the Luxembourg public prosecutor's office has requested an autopsy.
