96,544 Portugal nationals are living in Luxembourg, according to a recent STATEC study.
On the occasion of the Portuguese National Day on 10 June, STATEC has presented some statistics on the Portuguese living in the Grand Duchy. As of 1 January 2018, with almost 100,000 inhabitants, the Portuguese represent 16% of the total population.
In 1970, the Portuguese share of the total population was 1.7%. Since then, their number has been increasing and it was in 2017 that the Portuguese reached, with 96,779 people, their highest point.
In Larochette nearly one inhabitant in two is Portuguese but, in absolute terms, it is in Luxembourg City that the Portuguese are the most numerous.
This STATEC publication is the second in a series on the main communities of the country.
