This Sunday 3 June 2018, His Royal Highness Prince Félix of Luxembourg will celebrate his 34th birthday.

Born on 3 June 1984 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg, Prince Félix Léopold Marie Guillaume of Luxembourg is the second-born child of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.

Bearing the name of his great-grandfather Félix de Bourbon-Parma, Prince Félix of Luxembourg is second in the order of succession to the throne after his older brother the Hereditary Grand Duke Prince Guillaume. The Prince also holds the rank of Knight of the Order of the Golden Lion of Nassau.

On 13 December 2012, the Marshal of the Court announced the engagement of His Royal Highness Prince Félix and Claire Lademacher, now Princess Claire of Luxembourg, Princess of Nassau. The couple married on 21 September 2013 in the Basilica of Saint Mary Magdalene of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume and, on 15 June 2014, they became parents to Princess Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa (born in Luxembourg), and again on 28 November 2016 to Prince Liam Henri Hartmut (born in Geneva).

After completing his primary education in Lorentzweiler, Prince Félix continued his secondary education at the Notre Dame Private School (Sainte-Sophie) in Luxembourg, then at the American School of Luxembourg. In 1998, he joined the boarding school Swiss College Alpine International Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon. In 2003, he graduated with honours from high school before joining the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom, which he had to leave prematurely for medical reasons. He then interned at various companies and, in 2005, joined the Marketing and Public Relations department of a renowned Swiss company specializing in the organisation of sports and cultural events. In 2013, Prince Félix obtained a Master degree in Bioethics.

In addition to Luxembourgish, Prince Félix speaks fluent French, English, German and Italian. He also studied Spanish. He regularly takes part in the official activities of the Grand Ducal Family. In 2003, he accepted the High Patronage of the parachutist sports association Cercle Para Luxembourg / Fédération aéronautique Luxembourgeoise (FAL). A fervent amateur of basketball, he was also awarded the High Patronage to the Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB) in 2005.

Named “best athlete” five years in a row in high school, Prince Félix regularly plays tennis, golf and polo and has a special interest in athletics, parachuting, kite surfing and water skiing, along with freestyle skiing, slalom and snowboarding.
