Following the torrential rain that fell in the Mullerthal region overnight and the implementation of the national emergency plan, tap water in the municipality of Waldbillig and in Bech can may be used, without restriction, for human consumption after having been boiled for at least ten minutes.

In the municipalities of Berdorf and Beaufort, the authorities are advising to limit the use of water to the strict minimum. Tap water may, however, be used for human consumption after being boiled for at least ten minutes.

In the locality of Dillingen, the authorities are advising to limit the use of water to the strict minimum.

In the locality of Closberg, the water supply is interrupted.

As soon as the water quality is restored based on the results of additional analyses, residents will be informed by the authorities.

In the meantime, water distribution will be provided by the authorities.

The Crisis Unit was activated overnight for the entire Grand Duchy to initiate, coordinate and ensures the execution of all the measures to face the crisis and its effects, and to ensure a return to the normal state. It prepares necessary decisions and submits them to the government for approval.

Luxembourg's Prime Minister and Minister of State Xavier Bettel visited the affected region. He stated that he wanted to "thank all the rescue services for their commitment during the night of Thursday 31 May 2018 to Friday 1 June 2018". He added that the "necessary measures will be taken in close coordination with the crisis unit of the Office of the High Commissioner for National Protection".

The cabinet opf the Luxembourg Government will meet this morning to take the decisions that will be required regarding direct aid.
