Luxembourg's Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure has announced that, as part of the Second National Conservation Plan, Sicona is carrying out concrete projects in the member communities to restore destroyed or degraded habitats.

The Ministry will provide the Conservation Syndicate with the funds over a period of five years. This allows targeted, medium-term planning.

The co-operation is aimed primarily at three actions of the nature conservation plan:

• the restoration of open-land habitats;

• species and habitat protection plans;

• the production of native seeds of selected wild plants.

Next week, the partners will present details of a concrete project in Steinbrücken: here Sicona, together with the municipality of Monnerich, is designing a 60-acre wetland with several ponds and a floodplain.
