In 2017, the Luxembourg Fonds du Logement experienced its best year in terms of housing unit production since 2009.

The Fonds du Logement and the National Housing Corporation (SNHBM), the two public developers under the Ministry of Housing, succeeded in completing 133 housing units last year- their greatest achievement in this area in past years.

After a transition year of 2016, the year in which reorganisation and restructuring was the top priority and during which only 20 units were completed, 2017 was the first step in the optimisation process of the Fonds du Logement.

During 2016, the foundations were laid for the future development of the fund and so the necessary recruitments were made in 2016 to be able to begin the new challenges. The fund’s workforce consequently increased from 63 in 2016 to 86 in 2017. In 2016, the number of housing units under construction increased by 213 per cent from 93 units to 292 units.

To support this growth, the Fund acquired land and buildings in 2017 for a counter-value amounting to nearly €6 million. For 2018, it plans to deliver some 180 units. The current planning foresees that the Fonds du Logement will be involved in the coordination and management of around 30 projects and will deliver some 300 housing units in 2020, which represents a substantial increase over the units delivered annually since its creation.
