On Sunday night, a house was destroyed by fire in Differdange; the alarm was raised at 00:30 (on Monday morning) concerning a building on the rue de l'Acier.
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, all the residents were already on the street. The building was filled with dense smoke from the cellar area and the ground floor.
The fire department from Differdange was in attendance with 7 emergency vehicles and 30 rescue workers who immediately fought the flames. During firefighting, two consecutive explosions occurred, causing part of the house to collapse, forcing the police to enforce a wide cordon around the building. Adjacent houses were damaged by flying debris. A car parked in front of the house was declared a write-off, and a car stationed in the immediate vicinity was also damaged.
Nobody was injured by the fire and the explosions. The local municipal officers took care of housing all the inhabitants of the destroyed and surrounding houses.
In order to determine the cause of the fire, the public prosecutor ordered a forensics examination of the buidling to be undertaken.
