On Wednesday 8 November 2017, a house on the Rue de la Gare in Clemency was badly damaged by fire, with the second floor and roof completely destroyed.
The alarm was raised at around 11:00 by a number of passers-by who noticed that the roof of the building was on fire.
The emergency services including the fire brigade - from Differdange, Clemency, Kaerjeng and Petange - rushed to the scene to find that a Chinese restaurant was working out of the building. By that stage, the building had been evacuated.
The road was completely closed to traffic as the emergeny services tackled the blaze.
The public prosecutor asked for a forensics examination to be undertaken to determine the cause of the fire; officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Grand Ducal Police to investigate the matter.
