The Regional Tourist Office (ORT) Mullerthal Region - Luxembourg's Little Switzerland - was founded on 24 October 2007 in Echternach as the first regional tourist office in the Grand Duchy; ten municipalities in the region, as well as representatives of national tourism associations, signed the founding contract.
10 years later on exactly the same date, the Regional Tourist Office celebrated its birthday, on Tuesday 24 October 2017 in Echternach.
The circle of members of the ORT has expanded in recent years; five municipalities have been added to the ORT as well as 11 Syndicates of Initiative and Tourism.
The celebration of 10 years took place at the Park Pavillion in Echternach, an ideal party venue as history and nature meet there and because the pavillion is located on Route 1 of the Mullerthal Trail.
The ORT's current president Marc Diederich welcomed the guests; he saif that he was proud of all that ORT has been able to accomplish so far and is pleased that we will finally be able to move into the new offices.
The founding president of the ORT, André Hartmann, evoked in his retrospective a "fascinating and decisive phase with many meetings in 2006 and 2007". The "Entente des Syndicats d’Initiative" of the region had done a good job of preparation and André Hartmann was pleased that the ORT was able to bring the region closer, similar to the philosophy of LEADER.
At the end of the ceremony, and before cutting the birthday cake, Francine Closener, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy, spoke to all the guests and wished good luck to the ORT.
The members of the Regional Tourist Office Mullerthal Region - Luxemburgish Little Switzerland - include the following municipalities: Ernz Valley, Beaufort, Berdorf, Bech, Consdorf, Echternach, Fischbach, Heffingen, Junglinster, Larochette, Mompach, Nommern, Rosport, Reisdorf, Waldbillig as well as the tourist offices of the Ernz Valley, Beaufort, Berdorf, Born-Moersdorf, Consdorf, Echternach, Junglinster, Larochette, Reisdorf, Rosport and Waldbillig.
Other members include the Luxembourg Youth Hostels, HORESCA, Camprilux, RIM, the Germano-Luxemburg Nature Park and the Trifolion. The Ministry of the Economy - DG Tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Luxembourg for Tourism GIE are observers on the ORT Board of Directors.
