Statec, Luxembourg's national statistics office, has confirmed that the next wage indexation for employees, workers and pensioners in Luxembourg will take effect from 1 January 2017 with a 2.5% increase in gross salaries, plus pensions.

Following publication of the Consumer Price Index for December 2016, the cost of living index has risen to 794.54 points, compared to 775.17 points upon which the current wage index is based.

An increase in salary indexation is triggered when the half-yearly average of the index connected to the base 1.1.1948 (index 100.00) exceeds a certain figure. Based on the results available, STATEC has affirmed that this threshold will be exceeded with the December 2016 index.

The new wage index of 794.54 points comes into force on 1.1.2017, leading to an increase of 2.5% in salaries, wages and pensions.

The previous wage indexation adjustment was applied in October 2013.
