On Monday afternoon, the Mayor of Steinfort, Jean-Marie Wirth, inaugurated a significant residential development entitled Cité Eechelter in the municipality.
The comnstruction project will see a total of 139 housing units constructed, comprising a mix of 21 detached houses, 14 semi-detached houses, 16 terraced houses and 11 apartment blocks, each with 8 apartments (from 60m2 to 240 m2), a total of 139 housing units.
The project is being developed by Intervilla SA, a company with 30 years of experience, on a 6 hechares plot accessible at 33bis rue de Kleinbettingen in Steinfort. The project location was chosen due to its proximity to the motorway and railway line, as well as distance from Luxembourg city and Luxembourg airport, in addition to schools, sport and cultures facilities, plus restaurants.
Within the housing estate, vehicular traffic will be restricted to travelling at 20 km/h, with pedestrian paths and cycle paths also servicing the residential complex.
The buildings will have a high ecological certification (AAA), thanks in part to the use of photovoltaic cells to provide energy to the housing units.
The project was inaugurated with the planting of a tree by the town mayor and representatives of the project developers. Luxembourg's Minister of the interior, Dan Kersch, was unable to attend as scheduled due to his presence at Differdange for the ArcelorMittal incident earlier in the day.
