British chef Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution is coming to the Grand Duchy with the addition of Alix Rassel, author of Luxembourg blog "Orla Collective", to the 2016 campaign.
Jamie's Food Revolution is an ongoing global campaign aiming to stimulate debate and inspire positive, meaningful change in the way that children around the world access, consume and understand food.
The campaign was borne from the current global health crisis which has created a global population of 41 million overweight children under five, whilst another 159 million are not receiving adequate nourishment to grow properly.
In response, the campaign is about building meaningful change from the ground up, based on educating and inspiring people and communities towards better food choices at the local level and encouraging businesses and governments to make changes at the wider level.
Alix Rassel, who has previously been involved in national petitions to promote vegetarian and vegan options in Luxembourg, has joined the more than 2,000 ambassadors spread across 115 countries who are currently planning events to support the campaign. Alix herself will be holding an event alongside Ready?! on Food Revolution Day this Friday 20 May 2016.
"I am honoured and privileged to be Luxembourg's Ambassador for Jamie's Food Revolution," Alix commented. "Jamie has done so much to promote healthy eating around the world and I hope to spread his message here in Luxembourg!"
Those interested can engage in the movement in several different ways: by becoming a revolutionary themselves and signing up at jamiesfoodrevolution.org; by trying out Jamie's 10 nutritious Food Revolution recipes; by getting kids involved by downloading teaching materials for local schools; and by showing support by sharing Food Revolution digital assets either through social media or by organising an offline event, whether cooking at home with the kids, hosting a foodie event in the community or challenging colleagues to a cook-off.
