On the evening of Sunday 1 May 2016, a petrol station along route du Vin in Schengen was subjected to an armed robbery.
An unknown individual entered the service station and threatened the staff with a gun, forcing them to open the cash register. The man then emptied the contents into a black bag, before forcing the staff into another room so he could flee the scene.
The witnesses described the man as average height between 1.80 and 1.85 metres tall, possibly dark-skinned and of Arab descent, although he had pulled pantyhose over his head. He was reportedly wearing a black jacket, black baseball cap and black trousers, trainers and dark gloves. He was said to have spoken German but with an accent.
The police are not sure whether the man fled on foot or with a vehicle, and as of yet no security footage photos of the incident have emerged.
