A motorist was seriously injured in Luxembourg City on Saturday morning after crashing into the front of a house.
The driver in question had been travelling along route d'Esch towards the Ville Haute district just after 09:30 and, upon attempting to take a left turn at rue de la Semois, lost control of his car and crashed into the facade of a house. From there, the car came into contact with road signs, traffic lights and lighting poles, overturning before coming to a standstill in the middle of the road.
The driver became trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed from the wreck by rescue forces. The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and the route d'Esch was closed off to traffic until around 12:00.
The examining magistrate was informed and ordered the vehicle to be confiscated and a blood sample drawn.
