A new initiative has started in Luxembourg: 4 Paws Walking was born out of a lifelong dream of both Dorthe Brandt and Jan Hesketh to work with animals; in 2015 Dorthe and Jan started with the simple aim to provide “loving pet care while you can´t be there”.
Today many people work long hours and have super busy lives. But this should not mean that you can not have a pet. It is no secret that children who are raised around pets are less likely to have allergies; that pets offer love and companionship; with dogs there is a good reason to get out and exercise; and there have been numerous studies to show that being around pets decreases stress.
But pets can be time-consuming and they do need a lot of exercise and socialisation. This is where 4 Paws Walking comes in.; if you are out all day they will walk your dog. Being pack animals, your dog will enjoy the social dynamics of being walked in a group, stimulating both mind and body, resulting in a happy pooch back home.
Dorthe and Jan have both owned animals throughout lives, including pedigree and rescue dogs, cats and rabbits. Dorthe is also a foster mum for Pablo, a beagle that is waiting for the animal rescue organisation Amiavy to find him a forever home. They are both volunteers for one of the pet shelters in Luxembourg helping with the training and rehabilitation of some of the more "difficult" dogs. Dorthe has the dog license for Luxembourg and is authorised to walk listed dogs. Jan has a dog walking certificate from The British College for Canine studies.
4 Paws Walking also provide crèche and pet sitting for cats, dogs and small animals and say “It´s our intention to provide loving care for your pet and value for your money”.
