Luxembourg Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a young woman was sexually assaulted in the capital in the early hours of Wednesday 23 March 2016.

Very few details of the attack have been released, but it was reported to have occurred on the pavement up from the Villa Pauly at 57-59 Boulevard de la Pétrusse in Luxembourg City.

According to information gathered by the police, the suspect fled the scene upon hearing local residents opening their shutters, getting into a car and driving off at high speed towards the 'Salzhaff'.

Members of the public with information that could be useful to the case are asked to contact the Criminal Research and Investigation Service of Luxembourg at 4997-4800 or via the emergency hotline 113.
