The Luxembourg police have reported that four men have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the sale of drugs after being spotted by police who were investigating a number of bags that had been found containing drugs, in Bertrange on Monday 4 April 2016.
In the early morning on Monday the head of security of a company contacted the police in Capellen to report that a suspicious bag had been found near a warehouse located on Route d’Arlon by one of the employees during a transfer the previous day. The police arrived and inspected the backpack which revealed it contained around 330 grams of cannabis.
Later the same morning the security manager contacted the police again to report that yet another bag had been discovered in the bushes near the same warehouse. At the scene police discovered a third bag (in total) with the help of a sniffer dog. During the retrieval of the bag the police became aware of two men approaching the warehouse. On inspection one of the bags contained 300 grams of marijuana that was ready for sale.
One of the men confessed to marijuana usage and claimed he was at the location to smoke a joint, whilst the other claimed that he was merely using the rout as a shortcut. Drug paraphernalia was found on both of them.
The police believe that the bags had been deposited and hidden in the bushes in preparation for deals to be made, and that a deal had been intended to be struck between the two apprehended at the site.
During the questioning of the two men arrested, the police became aware of the approach of a further two individuals who subsequently fled at the sight of the police, who chased after them. Upon capture the police found that both had drugs and drug equipment with them.
The public prosecutor was informed who then ordered the arrest of the alleged drug dealer and also authorised searches of the homes of three of the four men.
In this police operation, a total 670 grams of marijuana was confiscated.
