The current works underway in Limpertsberg, and around the Glacis car-park in particular, on preparing streets for the laying of tram tracks, has been suspended following the discovery of archaeological remains.
The original foundations of the former Glacis Chapel, which dates back to the 17th century, have been discovered at the intersection of the Avenue de la Faïencerie and the Avenue des Déportés.
The Ville de Luxembourg held a press conference on Monday afternoon at the site which revealed that archaeology specialist Georges Hellingshausen noticed the remains when passing the works at the week-end.
