The Grand Ducal Police have reported that a man was stabbed in Mersch late on Wednesday evening.

The incident happened shortly before 23:30 on the rue Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. The owner of a snack bar had just left his business and went to his car where two hooded people were waiting for him and attacked the man without warning. One of the two assialants hit the man with a wooden plank on the head and the other assailant stabbed the victim several times with a knife.

Accordign to the police, there was no robbery, and the cause of the attack is unclear. The only descriptions the victim was able to give that both of the attackers were male, with one wearing a black jacket and the other a white jacket.

The seriously injured victim was rushed to hospital by ambulance. The police were called and launched a manhunt which was inconclusive.
