On Wednesday, Luxembourg's Minister of Equal Opportunities, Lydia Mutsch, took part in a round table event organised by the Luxembourg representation of the European Commission in the Maison de l’Europe in Luxembourg city centre, on efforts to achieve to achieve true equality between women and men in all areas of life.
The minister shared with the audience the main findings of discussions on this subject within the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of the United Nations, to which she attended last week in New York.
Minister Mutsch then presented the strategy of the Government of Luxembourg for a better balance between men and women in decision-making, an area in which gender inequalities can still be improved. According to the minister, the goal of a better sharing of responsibilities will be achieved through a package of instruments or other binding legal quotas as provided for parliamentary and European elections, voluntary in nature as the so-called positive actions implemented by companies.
