Luxembourg's Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, together with the National Youth Service (SNJ), have announced the publication of a new Guide for au pair host families in Luxembourg.
Since February 2013, Luxembourg has had a legal framework to accommodate young perople engaged as an au pair in good conditions. The main purpose of the temporary stay is for cultural exchange; it is above all a learning experience for the young person and the host family. The young person has the opportunity to develop language skills and increase their general knowledge while rendering a service to the family, including helping with young children and performing light housework.
The National Youth Service, in its position as an organ of coordination and welcome of au pairs, gathered together its experiences and those of families and young people in a guide that is meant to be a source of information and clarification. The guide presents the results and evidence collected during an electronic survey and interviews conducted with families and young people and allows them to plan and implement this temporary exchange.
The brochure may be downloaded from www.accueil-aupair.lu which also provides information on the conditions and procedures necessary to host an au pair.
