The police are advising the Luxembourg public not to pick up hitchhikers after a man violently robbed a residential home in Crauthem.

The incident was reported to have occurred at around 10:30, when the suspect rang the doorbell of a house. Upon opening the door, the female occupant was grabbed by the neck as the man entered the house and stole valuables from inside before fleeing the scene through the kitchen. It is unknown whether the suspect escaped over the fields or in the direction of the road, leading the police to warn motorists against picking up hitch-hikers whilst the man remains on the loose.

The perpetrator was described by the victim to be black, around 1.75 metres tall and wearing a black scarf, black hat and gloves, a black jacket and blue jeans. The man reportedly spoke French with an accent. Due to the condition of his clothes, the victim suspected the man was homeless.
