A man was attacked by a stranger with a knife outside a restaurant on rue Nicolas-Ernest Barble (Rollingergrund) in Luxembourg City on Thursday evening.
According to a witness account, the victim was approached whilst outside a restaurant by the perpetrator who asked to talk with him.
The man was subsequently punched in the face by the stranger and received a gash on his face from a knife hidden in the attacker’s sleeve.
A third man ran out to help and separate the two at which point the attacker fled, throwing the knife in a rubbish bin.
The knife was then retrieved by the victim and although the man was not caught, several clues have given the police an indication of the man’s identity.
The two men left behind were taken to hospital, an investigation is being conducted and the incident reported to the public prosecutor.
