A beggar in Luxembourg City had his dog taken away from him on Tuesday after being reported for mistreatment of the animal.

The beggar along avenue Monterey was approached by a woman after she saw him roughly handling the dog, causing the pet to whimper. The police reported that they had received a similar eyewitness account last week but had never themselves observed it happening. It was decided that the man ought to be brought in to the police department, as the woman stated she was prepared to take action against him, but the man resisted and began raising his fist at officials and threatening them with his crutch.

The police reported that in attempting to bring the man to the department, the officials were trampled. The man swung his crutch in an attempt to hit the officers and was tackled to the ground and transported to the police department. The man was found to have violated the Animal Welfare Act and his dog was seized.
