A man was killed on Saturday evening in Mersch after crashing headlong into a tree.

The 27-year-old resident of Anglesberg, near Fischbach, had been travelling along the CR118 between Mersch and Angelsberg when the incident occurred shortly before 20:30. The driver had attempted to overtake several cars coming from Mersch, before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a tree. The man was killed on impact.
