On Tuesday 1 March 2016, in keeping with the tradition of 'Bretzelsonndeg', the Fédération des Patrons Boulangers-Pâtissiers offered a pretzel to the College of the Mayor and Aldermen of Luxembourg City.
'Bretzelsonndeg', or 'Pretzel Sunday' in English, is celebrated this year on 6 March 2016, as a day for young men to offer a pretzel to the object of their desires. If the girl reciprocates the feeling, she then gives him an Easter egg back three weeks later on Easter Sunday. However, as 2016 is a leap year, the roles are reversed and it is instead the girl who offers the pretzel and the boy the egg.
