The Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has revealed that there was a significant increase in numers of visitors to the main attractions in Luxembourg city during 2015.
The total for those asking for tourist information at the LCTO Information Office at the Place Guillaume II, those participating in guided tours and those visiting the casemates rose from 606,134 in 2014 to 680,897 in 2015 (+12.33%). For the city's main attraction the Casemates, the number of visitors rose from 116,572 in 2014 to 127,475 in 2015, an increase of 9.35%, and the number of guided tours rose from 254,120 in 2014 to 294,240 in 2015, an increase of 15.79%. Tourism figures for Luxembourg city have risen for the 6th year in a row.
2015 saw two special tourism initiatives launched in the city, the first seeing the LCTO support the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union via its "Luxembourg Convention Bureau" service, and the second being the inaugural Luxembourg Light Nights in December which attracted several thousand visitors on both evenings.
