Luxembourg's Ministry of Home Affairs and the Grand Ducal Police have announced that a "LU-Alert" test will be carried out on Monday 7 September 2026.
As part of the government's ongoing strategy to test the LU-Alert public warning and information system, the exercise will include the monthly siren check and a geolocated SMS alert. The SMS test is scheduled to begin at 11:00 in Esch-Belval.
This time, the geolocated SMS message will be sent by the Grand Ducal Police. The test message will also be sent simultaneously via the LU-Alert mobile application, the website www.lu-alert.lu and the police Facebook page.
As this is a test alert, the public does not need to take any action or adopt any specific behaviour.
The authorities also recalled that all mobile devices connected to a Luxembourg mobile network antenna in the relevant area at the time the geolocated SMS test message is triggered will receive the alert.
Additional information and a FAQ section are available on the LU-Alert website.
