On Thursday morning at aroun 06:30, a municipality worker reported to the police that a telephone booth on the rue des Jardins in Esch-sur-Sure had been badly damaged, possibly by fireworks, with broken glass panes as well as electrical circuits that had been ripped out of their fittings.
He also reported a second telephone booth on the outskirts of Lultzhausen, on the N27, that had also suffered similar damage, with all the windows having been destroyed.
Upon investigation, the Grand Ducal Police established that firework(s) had indeed caused the damage t the first telephone booth, with evidence of spent fireworks casing found nearby, plus some parts of the booth lying several metres away. A resident who lives nearby confirmed to the police that he had been awoken during the night
by a loud bang.
The Police have appealed with anone with information on either act of vandalism to contact them on tel: 2441 9500.
In another incident, a P&T post box was destroyed in Eschdorf shortly after 02:30 this morning. A witness called the police and said that immediately after the explosion they saw two people running from the scene. An initial examinitation showed that fireworks had caused the explosion.
