Across the Grand Duchy on New Year's Eve, the Grand Ducal Police received numerous reports of animals running off due to the fireworks, including 11 dogs and 3 cows.
Other incidents that reached the attention of the police were a series of brawls, with around ten people arrested in Luxembourg city (rue de Bouillon, rue de Hollerich, Rives de Clausen, Fishmarket), and another four in the Capellen district and one in Esch-sur-Alzette. They did receive a number of calls concerning fireworks and other minor incidents, mainly involving alcohol consumption.
In Wiltz a hotel on the rue Joseph Simon had to be evacuated due to a fire in the building which claimed two small dogs. Two families were offered alternative accommodation with a neighbouring hotel.
