On Thursday afternoon, suspicions were raised when a van was found parked at the entrance to the Batiment Jean Monnet on rue Hammes in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

Based on the concern that a bomb may have been located inside the empty van, the building, occupied by the European Commission, as well as as neighbouring buildings including the A & B towers, the Anneau and the Palais buildings, were evecuated as a precaution.

The Grand Ducal Police implemented a security perimeter and undertook searches using a specialised canine unit. They later confirmed that no explosive devised had been found and lifted the security perimiter.
