On Tuesday afternoon, the Grand Ducal Police announced that a 6 month-old toddler had been reported missing from the Eppeldorf / Beaufort region since 11:50 in the morning.
The Police launched an extensive search involving dozens of officers from civil defence and security forces which resulted in the toddler's body being discovered at around 19:00 near a stretch of water in nearby Reisdorf. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, the help came too late.
It is understood that the toddler's mother, from Diekirch, has been arrested and will have a court appearance on Wednesday. No further details were released concerning the discovery of the toddler's body.
