The Ville de Luxembourg and the Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) today announced a redevelopment project on the lift and stairs linking the Gare Centrale with Bonnevoie.
The two associations reported that in order to limit inconvenience caused, the City and CFl decided to carry out the work, designed to increase the comfort and safety of users, in both areas for the most part in tandem.
The replacement work on the lift, conducted by the Ville de Luxembourg, will be performed from Thursday 1 October 2015 to Monday 9 November 2015, whilst the establishment of a staircase and the restoration of the stone staircase by the CFL will carry on from early October to late December 2015.
For the period of 1 October to 9 November 2015, the lift will be ut of service and the stairs will not be accessible. The following rules and prohibitions will be enforced:
- Between the Gare opening hours of 04:00 and 01:00, access to the various platforms will be possible via the Bonnevoie side of the gateway and via the Gare Centrale on the side of Place de la Gare. Access to Bonnevoie will be available thrugh a part of the gateway, the platforms and the underpass of the Gare Centrale.
- Whilst the Gare is closed, between 01:00 and 04:00, the public is asked to use the detour passing through Rue du Fort Neipperg.
- Whilst the work is taking place, people with reduced mobility and those with pushchairs or bicycles are asked to use the detour via Rue du Fort Neipperg and Rue de Bonnevoie.
Signs and information panels will be put in place at Place de la Gare, on the Bonnevoie side and on various platforms to guide members of the public down the appropriate route.
