American gourmet chef and TV personality Hugh Acheson was cooking up culinary delicacies in the Grand Duchy yesterday to the delight of a hungry lunch-time crowd in Esch-sur-Alzette.

The award-winning chef joined forces with food truck owners in Luxembourg, including Joo, The Food Truck and The Karavan to create an endive and apple salad with parmesan and a pecan vinaigrette and a burger with a remoulade sauce, topped off with a twist on a classic American dessert of caramelised plum and pecan pie.

The event was organised by the US Embassy in Luxembourg to form a collaboration between American gastronomy and Luxembourg cuisine. Chef Acheson was able to sample Luxembourg's culinary offerings and create his own before he continues on to the Milano World Expo 2015 where he will be providing cooking demonstrations at the US Pavilion from 16 to 20 September 2015.

Hugh Acheson became a judge on the 9th season of Top Chef, a spin-off of the TV cooking competition in which the chef had previously competed in 2011. As a chef/partner at restaurants 5&10, The National, Empire State South and The Florence in the US state of Georgia, Chef Acheson blends traditional Southern cooking with European flavours.

He won the James Beard Foundation Award for 'Best Chef Southeast' and the title of 'Best New Chef' by Food & Wine Magazine. He is also the author of cookbook 'A New Turn in the South: Southern Flavours Reinvented for your Kitchen' and has been featured in such publications as Bon Appetit, the New York Times, Garden & Gun, Fine Living, Gourmet, Southern Living and Saveur.
