At Luxembourg airport on Wednesday, Johan Vanneste, CEO of the airport, explained that action is being taken to address the issue of non-official taxis at the airport.

Drivers of official taxis had complained that non-official taxis had been picking up customers against airport regulations, as well as members of the public using taxi rank and terminal frontage to drop off passengers despite there being plenty of space in the Kiss & Fly car-park in front of the passenger terminal entrance. While there is no problem dropping passengers to the airport, drivers of non-official taxis have been collecting passengers too, by delaying their departure and in doing so, blocking the access roads around the terminal.

The solution is that the police will, in future, ensure that non-official taxis move on immediately after dropping their passengers at the airport.
