Despite adverse weather conditions, the Ministry of Health reported that it was pleased with the outcome of its cancer awareness and information campaign held yesterday in Place D'Armes in Luxembourg City.
The Ministry of Health collaborated with foundations and associations fighting against cancer, including Fondation Cancer, Fondation Kriibskrank Kanner, Europe Donna Luxembourg, Association luxembourgeoise des groupes sportifs oncologiques and EU Ex-Smokers to set up information stands to help the public learn more about the main risk factors of cancer.
Interested passers-by were offered a copy of the European Code against Cancer, available in four languages, which offers a dozen recommendations of appropriate actions that can be taken to prevent cancer.
The awareness campaign was concluded with a prize draw conducted by Minister of Health, Lydia Mutsch, who drew 20 winners of the quiz which had been organised throughout the day. These individuals will win a day pass to Mondorf Domaine Thermal, and will be notified by the Ministry by e-mail or phone.
The campaign took place in conjunction with the ceremony at Cercle Cité to celebrate '30 Years Europe Against Cancer', an event jointly organised by the European Commission and the Luxembourg Presidency.
