Tw weeks after ASTI called out for Europe to welcome the refugees at its borders, trade union LCGB is now requesting the implementation of dignified reception and treatment measures for refugees speaking protection in Luxembourg and the rest of the EU.
Referencing the basic values of the European Union, including borderless solidarity per the Schengen agreements, the LCGB called on all European citizens, politicians and volunteering organisations to welcome any person in distress who has fled war, torture, rape, killings and persecution, putting their lives and the lives of family members at risk to reach European borders.
According to the LCGB, the divide created between Member States due to the issue of the reception and integration of refugees goes against the basis upon which the European concept was constructed, before stating that the refugee crisis will only be overcome through European solidarity.
