Today was a significant day for Luxembourg as the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs chaired the General Affairs Council of the EU, the Minister of Health addressed the 59th IAEA General Conference and Minister of Culture Maggy Nagel presented the Heritage Days programme.
The 2015 edition of Heritage Days is dedicated to the theme "The colours of built heritage" and will take place from September 24 to October 11, 2015.
The heritage colours differ according to geographic location, due to the raw materials used and originating from the region. An exhibition will examine this intense bond between the ground and buildings constructed within it, with the programme providing, amongst others, visits to the site of the former Palace of Pierre-Ernst de Mansfeld, the US Embassy and the 'Little Italy' neighbourhood in Dudelange. A total of 28 guided tours, exhibitions and lectures have been organised.
At a press conference held today, Maggy Nagel spoke about the important of architectural heritage, as well as heritage in general. The Culture Minister welcomed the programming for a young audience, emphasising the importance in holding an awareness of heritage from an early age.
