The Grand Ducal Police were called out to Avenue de la Liberté yesterday evening after a fight broke out on the lawn in front of the Sparkasse.
Whilst the 86th Braderie was beginning to wind down, several eyewitnesses called the police after a brawl began at around 17:50 in the City centre. The nine people involved were still in the midst of arguing when the police officers arrived, and one participant had to be physically restrained on the ground by police after swinging a punch at another individual.
After the perpetratir in question was taken away in a patrol car, officials were alerted to a second fight, in which one person had received a bloody nose by another after being hit in the face.
The police reported that several on-lookers were in the process of filming the situation on their mobile phones as one trouble-maker was wrestled to the ground, but thanked an elderly gentleman who came forward to lend his assistance to the officials. Another individual reportedly contributed to easing the issue by calming an increasingly angry crowd.
