
As part of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Virtual Resource Centre for Knwoledge about Europe (CVCE) has initiated a CVCE Europe Quiz.
The contest has been organised in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Digital Lëtzebuerg, along with support from the Representation of the European Commission and the European Parliament Information Office in Luxembourg.
The quiz will be based on Europe's construction, and will be open to Luxembourg and European citizens with the aim of raising awareness of the European project and the particular role of Luxembourg therein, as well as creating a testbed for the design of digital tools in the field of knowledge sharing.
The competition is available in French, German and English and will run for the duration of Luxembourg's Presidency, from 3 July to 31 December 2015.
Each day, participants will be asked questions on a topic related to Europe, including:
- The main chapters of the construction of Europe
- Luxembourg and the integration of Europe
- Central figures in the making of Europe
- The places of Europe
- European symbols
- European institutions
- European policies
- Europe today
For each topic, the participant will have the opportunity to win a digital badge of bronze, silver, gold or platinum, dependent oin the number of correct responses.
Each question will earn the participant a certain amount of points, with three winners selected each month who have achieved the prerequisite amount of points. At the end of the Presidency the overall winner will be awarded the 'Présidence' Prize.
Amongst the many prizes to be won is a trip offered by Luxair, an InterRail One Country Benelux Pass offered by the Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL) and go-pro cameras offered by Nvision.
The competition will be launched on 3 July 2015 on the Place d'Armes, in conjunction with the celebration inaugurating the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU.
