'Fir de Fairen Handel asbl', the sponsoring association of Weltladen Diekirch and winner of "Yes We Care 2014" has collaborated with Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg and Diekirch commune to host the FairFashion event over 25 and 26 June 2015.
The event was created with the aim of providing information and goods representative of ethical and ecological trade in the textile sector.
Fashion accessories, home textiles and baby clothing are on offer at the event, as well as a Fair Fashion Show put on by the students of Ettelbrück's Lycée Technique Agricole.
In conjunction with the fair, Fair Trade Lëtzebuerg published the country's first Fair Fashion magazine detailing all available outlets for ethically-cultivated garments in Luxembourg, as well as information on the cotton industry and the positive impact of buying fairtrade.
In addition, winner of the Dutch Silver Camera photography award, Marieke van der Velden, has created an exhibition entitle "I Make Your Clothes! The Strong Women of South East Asia" which is available for viewing. Informative talks on the working and living conditions of those involved in the cotton production and textile processing industries are also available.
