Non-profit oragnisation Handicap Internaional today reported it has benefitted from a €2000 donation after the event 'Planet Golf Tour 2015' was organised by Planet Golf to raise money for the NGO.

The cheque was presented by Barbara Forzy, Manager of Planet Golf, to Bénédicte Degeest, Director at Handicap International Luxembourg.

Planet Golf has been a benefactor of Handicap International since 2014, and hosted the amateur golf tournament which took place in five clubs in Belgium, France and Luxembourg in the organisation's honour.

The funds raised, totalling €2000, will be allocated to maternal and child health projects in Cambodia to improve the quality of life for young mothers and their babies there.

Handicap International has stated that the health project is in conjunction with other rehabilitation activities and services the assocation has set up in the country, and was established as a means of tracking the health of mothers and baby until the age of six. This project therefore aims to not only save lives but also prevent causes of disability.

"While the mortality rate for children under the age  of six and the mortality rate for mothes has decline in Cambodia over the past two decades, theses declines are unevenly distributed," explained Patrick Le Folcalvez, Technical Expert with Handicap International. "The poorest, least educated and most rural populations remain affected."
