The French-born artist Edward Welter has recently moved his studio from California to Luxembourg, the residence of his father’s family.
Edward studied art and design at higher educational establishments in France and the USA and implemented the knowledge acquired while working in the fashion industry in Paris and Los Angeles. He worked for prominent brands such as Chanel, Yves Saint-Laurent as well as for for private clients.
Speaking to Chronicle.lu, Edward Welter explained that he derives his vision of what he wants to paint from meditation and emotions and always with a musical ambience. All his paintings are done in oil on canvas. Concerning his move from California, the painter noted that his art was not changed by it, although he added: “I am glad to be in the place of my family roots and feel the vibrations of [this] land.” He concluded: “I [was] born an artist, I believe. It is truly me and I live to express myself through my paintings. [...] My paintings always reflect good energy, joy and happiness. It is what I want to share with everybody.”
Edward has always painted on the side but his first public exhibition was not organised until he was in his 40s. He recently hosted a new exhibition called “Welcome to my World”, showing paintings created after his relocation from California, USA. The exhibition will still be open to the public until Monday 25 March 2024 from 14:00 to 19:00 in the Galerie bei der Kierch (2 rue de Keispelt, L-8282 Kehlen).
