From 4 November 2015 to 10 January 2016, passers-by in Place Guillaume II will be able to slow down and admire the selection of photographs showing scenes of everyday fast-paced life in Asia and Europe.

The 'On the Go' exhibition  was launched yesterday by the Asia-Europe Foundation, together with the City of Luxembourg, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2016. By showing scenes of everyday life on the go in Asia and Europe, the exhibition aims to visualise the difference and similarities between the two continents, their people and cultures.

The photographic exhibition has been been established to coincide with the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers' Meeting taking place in Luxembourg on 5 and 6 November 2015.

"It it a really good thing that the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers' Meeting (ASEM FMM12) in Luxembourg is accompanied by such a beautiful cultural event...so that the exhibition becomes part of the dialogue of thiy city and between the two regions of the world," commented Colette Mart, Luxembourg's vice mayor in charge of Education and Equal Opportunities.

Both professional and budding photographers from 50 ASEM member countries submitted over 1,500 entries to the ASEF photo competition organised earlier this year. A panel of experts, chaired by LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore, selected the final photographs which are now on display in Place Guillaume II. Three pieces were rewarded by the jury, these being 'On the Boat' by Berta Tilmantaite of Lithuania and 'Seeing the Outside Change' by Ritagnik Bhattacharya of India, with 'The Nomads of Rajasthan' by Roli Mahajan of India receiving the public's award.

'On the Go' will be hosted by ASEM member countries interested in displaying it and after its stay in the Grand Duchy will be continuing on to other Asian and European capitals including Singapore, Brussels and Ulaanbaatar. The exhibition may possible by displayed at the 11th ASEM Summit (ASEM11) taking place in Mongolia in July 2016.
