A Lux'Charity event on 14 November 2015 will see numerous works by renowned artist Georges Braque sold at an auction to benefit five organisations focused on international solidarity.
51 pieces by the father of cubism and initiator of contemporary art will be going under the hammer, with items including a prized Cubist Hermes sculpture as well as jewellery, ceramics, lithographs and tapestries. The collection, with an estimated value of €3.5 million is owned by Armand Israel, copyright holder of 'Metamorphoses' by Georges Braque.
All works to be offered at the auction were produced in the 'Metamorphoses' period between 1962 and 1962 and are signed by Georges Braque. The pieces were produced with Henri-Michel Heger of Loewenweld following Braque's realisation of having done very little work in the third dimension.
If all works are sold, around €700,000 will go to five associations present in Luxembourg, these being SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, SOS Sahel International Luxembourg, Frères des Hommes, Handicap International and Unity Foundations.
This exceptional charity auction will be held from 16:00 at Freeport Luxembourg by reputed Parisian auctioneer Master Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr, Luxembourg court expert François Privat, and judicial officer Master Carlos Calvo.
